The time is here.
Time for cooking, baking and eating. Oh how I love this time of year.
This year is expecially fun because Monkey is old enough to join me in the kitchen and actually be helpful. Thanks to the Learning Tower that Monga bought as a birthday present a couple of years ago, Monkey was able to crack the eggs, stir the dry ingredients and even control the speed on the mixer. I love being able to share this time with her, and I hope it is something she and I enjoy for many years to come.
Monkey was a very good listener all day, and she was even a good sport about posing for the camera.
However, when I had Daddy run to the store for a few last minute things, she decided it was time to test my patience. Of course during this test, (which I passed by the way) Caterpillar started crying, and of course the timer for the oven went off. And this scene wouldn’t have been complete without the dog whining, so he did just that. I seriously looked around in my own house for a hidden camera.
I thought to myself that this is the life I will be living once Daddy goes back to work in a couple of weeks, so I had better deal. I did just that, and within minutes, everyone was all smiles again.
At the end of the day, my feet were sore from the hardwood floors, and I was tired. But even so, I realized how much I have to be thankful for this year.
It was about a year ago that I had a miscarriage. Now God blessed us with Caterpillar. I was fighting with my mom and it was weighing heavy on my heart. This year we are starting to rebuild a relationship and I have a peaceful heart no matter where it leads. I finally feel like I am getting good at being a stay at home mom, and I have learned to let a lot go and focus on God and His plan. I now see on what’s important, and I take time to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells.
And, everyday, I give thanks.
