Last year I was unable to attend the Girl Scout World Bazaar, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. We were told to prep 300 swaps and 300 food samples relating to our country. I picked China because the girls had studied China during their fall expeditionary learning.
The girls had so much fun! They walked around to each country, had their ‘passport’ stamped and sampled foods from around the world. They ate cupcakes to celebrate the 100th birthday of Girl Scouts and brought home a bag full of loot.
Our swaps were bottle caps with rice glued in and a toothpick cut in half and glued on top as the tiny chopsticks. Our co-leader suggested them, and they were a huge hit! All night long people were commenting on how cute they were, and one mom said this was her 12th year attending and the only swap she’s ever actually wanted to take home!
Our food item was fortune cookies, and the girls had a great time reading their fortunes sharing them with others.
All in all, it was a lot of fun, but I’m beat. Off to spend some time with my birthday boy of a husband.
