For those of you who are living under a rock, there’s breaking news: Michael Jackson died this week.

I was shocked when I heard the news because he was so young.  His music changed the world, and I spent a large portion of my junior high years listening to his music and watching his cutting edge music videos.  His dance moves have been mimiced, but never mastered.  He was truly the king of pop.

Other then that, I have had a few more friends ask me for pictures, so I figured I’d better dust off Photoshop and get to work.  But, not before reviewing Pioneer Woman‘s Photography section.  I just love her writing style, and when I first came across her site, I only read the confessions.  As time has gone on, I have really started to enjoy her cooking section, and my newest love falls within her photography section.  I downloaded a couple of her actions, and I have to say her PW Black and White is awesome.  When I apply it to photos, I only have to make subtle changes before, voila! my average pictures are turned into something I would actually hang on my wall.

Monkey actually put pants on and let me comb her hair last week, so I pulled out the camera to make sure it was a moment we wouldn’t forget.  Here’s a few of the shots I captured, with Black and White edits, PW style:

This one I really wanted to leave in color, but the stupid photographer (me) didn’t notice the multi-colored huge toy behind her and I just couldn’t get the background to drop out perfectly, so black and white I went.  However, her eyes look gorgeous.  You’ll just have to take my word for it.

His face is a little bright, but I kinda like it that way.  Babies are supposed to be all pale, right?  I love how he’s looking at me – I can’t decide if he’s amused or annoyed.  Either way, it’s funny to me!

I love this picture.  Normally, when I put the two of them together he gets fidgety because he wants to look at her, and she ends up getting annoyed and losing interest.  Finally, 7 months into this journey, I caught them!

So, go check out PW’s site.  Let me know what you think – there’s not a recipe on there that we’ve tried that we wouldn’t go for again, and her confessions are my daily coffee.  Oh – and you can’t beat her giveaways… I just know she’s going to pick me for that purty camera she’s giving away right now.
