Our garden did better than we expected, considering it was our first one and we didn’t care for it as well as we could have.
Monkey could not have been more excited when the snow started falling, and it was time to harvest the pumpkins.
We actually harvested several pumpkins and it was so fun to share that time with her. She was proud to tell everyone that indeed, that big pile of pumpkins were homegrown!
We have already started figuring out where the pumpkin patch will go next year, and I am looking forward to making this an annual event for our family.
We got the longest vines in the spring with the biggest flowers…and then they all shriveled up and died. So sad. We had about 10+ foot vines per seedling. Ug! Darn heat!
Oh no Chris! Can pumpkins not grow there, or do they just require a crazy amount of water? We got A LOT of rain this year so I think that’s the only reason they did well – I am so horrible about watering…

I dunno! I think they needed rainwater. Didn’t seem to matter that I was out there daily watering them and sometimes twice a day. I should have just picked all the blossoms and eaten them instead. Some people do that, say the Food Network. The nice thing about TX is that I did just plant my fall garden and it’s sprouting right now!! Fast-growing radishes and beans and tomatoes!
